Following the opening of THIS IS UKRAINE: DEFENDING FREEDOM at the 59th VENICE BIENNALE, artist NIKITA KADAN proposed to famed provocateur of the Ukrainian art scene ANTI GONNA.
Due by government mandate to return to Kyiv, they were wed the next day at noon on the Academia Bridge. The wedding was officiated by NAN GOLDIN, who, here, shares the vows she stayed up all night to write.
The ceremony, spontaneous and moving, was the perfect afterword—to an exhibition rapidly assembled, to a book produced down to the wire, to a brief pause from the anxieties of war, to a moment of beauty arriving from the love of extraordinary people.
